Every name checked against the registry
A business name generator that checks the domain first.
Naming a business you will actually trade under is a harder problem than naming a project — and the good names go faster. Here is what that looks like, measured.

See 37 checked business names
We asked for “a neighbourhood bakery and coffee shop”. Each name was checked against its registry, and against WHOIS and zone delegation where the registry alone would not have settled it. 9 of 37 were unregistered on 10 August 2026.

Business names are harder than they look
That 9-of-37 figure is the part worth sitting with. We ran the same search shape for a blog and 19 of 40 came back free. A bakery competes with every bakery, café and roastery that has ever registered a domain, and the plain-English names — the ones you would think of first — went long ago.
Notice what did survive: invented compounds, on .com, at
$11.00. That is the practical answer to the .com question for a trading business —
you can still have one, but not with a name anybody else would have thought of. More on that
in
when you genuinely need the .com
and
brandable vs descriptive names
.
Check the name, not just the domain
A free domain is not a free name. A business trades under its name in public, which is exactly the situation trademark law exists for — and the domain being unregistered tells you nothing about whether someone already holds the mark. Before you print anything, read trademark basics before you register and, in the EU, how to check an EU trademark . If the name is already taken as a domain but not as a mark, there is a route to buying it .
Try it on your business
Describe the business in a sentence and you will get around 250 names back, each checked the same way as the ones above and ranked by how brandable they are. From $2 a search, no subscription — credits never expire.
Some trades name differently enough to be worth their own write-up — e-commerce brands , fintech and agencies each have patterns the others do not.
