Does a product need its own domain?
Often, no — and it is worth settling before you fall for a name. A product sold under a brand that already has a domain usually lives at a path or a subdomain, and a separate domain buys you a second thing to renew, secure and redirect forever. That decision is the whole of subdomain or new domain , and it is the right thing to read first.
Where a product does earn its own domain: when it may outlive or outgrow the parent brand, when it is sold separately, or when people will type its name rather than the company's. If none of those are true, name it well and skip the domain.

One thing a domain check cannot tell you: whether the name is already someone's mark. A product name goes on packaging and in listings, which is squarely trademark territory — start with trademark basics before you register .
Try it on your product
Describe the product in a sentence and you will get around 250 names back, each checked the same way as the ones above. From $2 a search, no subscription. If the product is an app, domain name ideas for mobile apps works through the naming patterns that survive an app store listing. Naming the company instead?
